Diving

The thrilling underwater world of Lake Millstätter See can be discovered in the diving sport centres in Seeboden, Millstatt and Döbriach.

Apnoe- or free diving is a special way to dive. It is the art of diving simply by holding your breath. The International Free Diving Challenge was held in late summer (September) in Millstatt for the last two years.

Chasing new records, the apnoe divers dive down vertically without aid.

Lake Millstätter See  is the second-largest lake in Carinthia, in terms of surface area but due to its depth, it contains the most water.

The sides drop steeply in almost all areas besides Seeboden and Döbriach.

The underwater landscape, as well as the fauna and fauna are extremely diverse for a fresh water lake. Attempts at breaking world records in Apnoe diving in Lake Millstätter See  www.freediving.at
