"Mühlenwanderweg Kaning" Mill hiking trail in Kaning
The relaxing village of Kaning in Radenthein on Millstatt Lake offers a special hiking experience: the “Kneipp” and Mill hiking trail trail in "Rossbachgraben". 22 mills once stood here. Six of these are still holding together.
The circular “Kneipp” and Mill hiking trail is about 3km long. Besides the six 18th century mills, there are also “Kneipp” pools, wooden water troughs, grilling facilities, children’s playgrounds, a woodcutter camp, crag showers, a mini mill, a “biotope”, herb and flower garden and an educational forest trail.
"Orte der Kraft" - Places of Power
High above Millstatt Lake, in the mountain area of Gschriet, are the "places of power", which attract people, not only because of the unusual appeal of the landscape.
These are places, which produce energy with a high level of “clockwise” vibration. The German practitioner of Radiaesthesia, Josef Georg from Eppelborn, discovered these healing points of energy.
This Scientist recorded such high frequencies that it is comparable with the cosmic colour, indigo (cosmic ray), particularly at the “place of power” numbered “no. 2”.
"These places are incredibly positive. Our cells, which are weakened by stress, are able to recharge and regenerate here in a completely natural way."
The “Villa Route” in Millstatt - a walk through Millstatt as you please
On this route, you can see 20 Villas from the time when many noble families from the former Austrian Monarchy built their summer residences here.
These villas from the industrial expansion era are characteristic of the Millstatt area. A brochure with the signposted Villas is available free of charge at the Millstatt Tourism office. .
The Bee educational walk
In May 1997, the forest and bee the Bee educational walk was opened in the Baldramsdorf district, starting from Unterhaus and continuing toward the Ortenburg ruins / Marhube. The bee-keeping associations in Spittal/Drau and surrounding area are responsible for it.
The educational trail is the only one of its kind in Austria and documents the contribution of the bee at 14 stations. In addition, around 30 boards along the roughly 1 km stretch provide information on the various forest plants. It is worth taking a look at this educational walk.
The “legend” trail
There was once a powerful giant who lived in the caves of Mirnock and who you can still sometimes see today. Visitors to the Millstatt Lake holiday region will be carried away to a strange world on this most thrilling of legend walks; a world of noblemen and virgins, gnomes and forest demons, in a life marked by dark customs and romantic superstition.
In a time in which only a small place is left for fairytales and legends, you can back on the tracks of former days – an enchanting holiday experience for the whole family.
The “sound” hiking trail
The “sound” hiking trail through Millstatt gorge leads you through various “sound biotopes”. These are areas in which the sounds and noises of nature (forest noise, the distant noise of a mountain brook, bird-song, and much more) can still be experienced in their original clarity.
An accompanying booklet is available at the Millstatt tourism office.
